Meet Dr. Tiffanie Britt
Veterinarian
Passion and Precision in Pet Care
When exactly did Dr. Britt realize that a future in veterinary medicine awaited her? It started when her pet dog unexpectedly had a litter of puppies. Dr. Britt took a particular liking to a blonde boy puppy, and begged her grandfather to let the puppy stay on his nearby farm, where she could see him whenever she wanted. She considers this to be her first “rescue mission” and it was also the first time she realized that she had a real passion for animals.
Born in Middlebury, Indiana, Dr. Britt’s family eventually moved to Georgia to escape the cold Midwestern winters, which would help alleviate her mother’s health issues.
Her first experience in the veterinary world came when she worked in the kennel at Lawrenceville Animal Care. This opened her eyes to the reality of the profession, and she found out how much work and time is put into taking care of animals. But she would not be deterred and was determined to pursue a career in the field. She would major in Biology/pre-vet in college, and then go on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree at University of Georgia. While studying, she continued to gain experience by working in various animal hospitals.
When it comes to picking favorite aspects of her job, Dr. Britt can’t pick only one. She enjoys the variety of tasks that vacillate between surgery and medicine, and she relishes the opportunity to continuously learn and hone her skills. Ultimately, she finds surgery to be the most humbling yet rewarding area of her profession, simply because of the unique challenges that it comes with.
Dr. Britt is married and has four children, along with two dogs, a rabbit and a cat. You can catch her camped out in front of her TV on weekends, loudly cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs college football team. Her siblings live nearby, so she’s able to spend time with them. And to make life come full circle from her childhood, she has dreams of one day opening her own small farm!
