Dogwood Animal Hospital is equipped to handle even the most critical pet care cases with swiftness and efficiency. Our doctors and support staff are experienced in delivering emergency medical, diagnostic and surgical care at a moment’s notice and will work hard to get the situation under control, giving your pet the best possible chance at a positive outcome..
Some of the signs of a possible pet emergency include, but are not limited to:
• Difficulty breathing
• Diarrhea or vomiting that contains blood or lasts longer than 24 hours
• Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
• Trauma (such as being hit by a car)
• Broken bones
• Difficulty urinating
• Ingestion of a toxic substance
• Swallowing a foreign object
• Swollen and/or painful abdomen
• Foaming at the mouth
If you notice any of these signs or symptoms, seek veterinary care immediately. Whenever possible, we recommend calling ahead prior to bringing your pet in for treatment. This allows us to assess the situation, provide advice on first aid measures that you can apply in the meantime, and prepare the hospital for your pet’s arrival. Of course, if phoning ahead isn’t possible, don’t hesitate to bring your pet directly in for immediate attention.
Critical and emergency care is available at Dogwood Animal Hospital any time while the clinic is open. Should your pet require urgent care outside of our normal office hours, we also work with a number of area emergency clinics, ensuring that your cherished friend will always receive the best available care.
We hope you never have to experience a pet emergency, but if you do, it’s good to know that you can count on us to assist!
